
The course introduces the mathematical and geometric principles used in architectural and interior design. Topics include units and dimensional analysis; scale, ratio, proportion, and similarity; Cartesian coordinate systems; linear and quadratic functions; trigonometry and its applications to slopes, distances, stairs, ramps, roofs, and setting-out; vectors and elementary matrices; systems of linear equations; geometric transformations, symmetry, and tessellation; circles and conic sections; polar and parametric representation; polygons, polyhedral, areas, surface areas, and volumes; lines, planes, and selected quadric and ruled surfaces; descriptive and projective geometry; orthographic, axonometric, and perspective representation; developable surfaces and surface unfolding; and elementary analog and digital geometric modelling. Mathematical and geometric concepts are applied to drawing, spatial analysis, material dimensions, modular coordination, penalization, quantity calculations, and basic constructability.
