This course aims to enrich the academic experience of architecture students by offering a specialized and focused exploration of the principles and applications of form-resistant structures:
- Tectonics of Tensile Structures: containing Cables, Membranes, Suspended Glass Systems, Pneumatic Structures, and Negatively Curved Shells.
- Tectonics of Compression Structures: containing Steel and Reinforced Concrete Vaults and Domes, Geodesic Domes, Grid Shells, and Positively Curved Shells.
- Tectonics of Tension and Compression Structures: 2D Truss, 3D Truss and Space Frame.
- Tectonics of Folded Plates.
In the dynamic field of architecture, understanding the tectonics of structures is crucial for designing buildings that not only meet functional requirements but also demonstrate innovation, sustainability, and resilience. This justification outlines the significance of introducing this course and its potential impact on students' educational and professional development.
